❓The question that changed everything
How to ask better questions (and what can happen when you do).
In 2014, Brian Chesky asked his design team a question that would reshape a $75 billion company: "Why does every travel site look like an Excel sheet?"
A few months back, I was asked a question that has fundamentally changed the way we’re building MicDrop: “How can we deliver a year's worth of value to our members in their first 24 hours?
I share this because if you want to change someone’s mind, perhaps the most effective way to do this is to start with a question.
Questions change the way we think;
then they change how we behave.
Our question has become somewhat of a North Star.
And it’s resulted in us building something that is going to underpin everything we do inside the community.
Over the summer we’re building MicDrop Memory 🧠.
A personal content archive that centralises every member's thought leadership in one place.
It's going to include:
A detailed profile of their unique experiences 👤
↳ The stuff that gives them an unfair advantage to talk about their subject.A personal archive of their thought leadership 🧠
↳ LinkedIn posts, newsletter articles etc.Somewhere to manually upload everything else 📚
↳ Books, talk transcripts, course materials etc.
This summer, we're building it by hand, for every member.
Needless to say, we’ll be giving new members access to it on their very first day 🎁.
Why? Because raw voices carry a premium.
MicDrop Memory is going to help our members leverage AI in the right way. Not as a shortcut, but as a thought partner and strategic speaking assistant.
And this is where it gets really exciting.
Because when MicDrop Memory is plugged into our AI, that context can be used to:
Turn your vague ideas into messages that land 🎯
Aligned with your goals. Tailored to your audience. Optimised for traction.Get booked on high-leverage stages 🎤
A speaking assistant that helps you find the right opportunities, craft smarter applications and land more yeses.Prep talks faster ⚡️
No more starting from scratch. Pull from your own material by identifying right content, for the right audience, at the right time.
All born from a simple question.
5 question types to get your next audience really thinking

We’ll be taking some time off over the summer so we can work on bringing our AI to life (reply to this with the word BETA you’d be up for testing).
As for MicDrop, we’ll be opening our doors to new members again in October.
