The Unexpected £60k LinkedIn Post

This might be the most crass and cringeworthy email I’ve ever written…
But all of us here are in the pursuit of ideas that land. So when one does, I think it can be useful to share it and reflect on why.
Contrary to what the “LinkedIn gurus” might tell you, if you’re a thought leader with a business to run…
Your goal isn’t to chase impressions or followers,
it’s to attract opportunities.
With this in mind, I recently had my most successful LinkedIn post of all time.
6 enquiries came from it with a combined total value of £60k.
5 brilliant MicDrop applicants 🧠.
One ‘bucket list’ opportunity 🌍
Reflecting back, there are two things that stand out:
This was a thought leadership piece, not a sales post.
It had just 5,115 impressions.
This was me, thinking out loud about something I felt passionate about that morning.
Do this consistently and you’ll:
Attract a trickle of opportunities 🧲
When they’re the right ones, you don’t need that many.Build your repertoire of ideas that land 💡
No more sleepless nights about whether your next talk is going to be good enough (you’ll just be excited to share it!).
This is what we do inside MicDrop. Build our body of thought leadership, in public, piece by piece. So our ideas become the very thing we’re sought after for.
We’re taking on a very small cohort of new members this month. Click here to find out more.
