10 x quick-fire questions | 1 x Rule of Three and…

A one-sentence credibility story.

All in 76 seconds.

Done right, a one sentence credibility story will answer a very important question:

Why you?

Credibility is a funny thing.

The harder you try to convince people of it, the less credibility you end up having. That’s why having one of these up your sleeve is so useful. It will help you to:

  1. Build trust quickly ⚡️

  2. Assume authority rather than feel the need to prove it 🧠

  3. Understand what makes your perspective unique 🔮

Here’s Esther’s talk opener masterclass in all its glory. Take close note of where she decides to place it… enjoy 🍿.

Structure your one sentence credibility story like this:

“For the past [X] years, I have been working extensively with [amount] of [specific audience] who have [challenge/pain point].”

In Esther’s words…

For the past 10 years, I have traveled the globe and worked extensively with hundreds of couples who have been shattered by infidelity.

Here’s why it works:

  1. Time makes experience feel tangible ⏳
It’s the simplest way to signal credibility.

  2. The audience is clear 🎯
Identifying the people you serve helps us understand the lens through which you see the world

  3. It’s problem focused ❤️‍🔥
When we focus on the problem, we position ourselves as the solution without having to say we are, that way we don’t come across as selly.

One-sentence credibility stories aren’t just for opening keynotes, they’re for podcasts, investor pitches, team meetings, networking events, speaker bios, personal websites, panels, job interviews, and social profiles.

One of the most impactful statements you will ever create.

So get to it :-). If you’d like some accountability, reply to this email sharing yours!
